Advice and tips: how to make your CV stand out

A well-prepared CV is half the success in every interview. Ideally, it should be created in .doc or .pdf format. And since you are applying for a job abroad, it is advisable to prepare your CV in English whenever possible...

The following up-to-date information should not be missing:

  • First name, surname, place of residence, date of birth, nationality, ideally with a formal headshot photograph

  • Previous work experience (name of employer and position)

    • arranged chronologically from the most recent to the oldest work experience

    • dates from – to

    • a brief summary of job responsibilities

  • Education (name of school, field of study, duration of studies)

  • Languages, their level, as well as other skills and possibly interests

How a CV should not look:

  • A CV that is a screenshot of a screen or written on a torn-out piece of notebook paper

  • Outdated, for example 3 years old (it is impossible to tell what the applicant has been doing for the past three years)

  • Inaccurate, for example stating: “I worked as a bartender, shop assistant, and chef.”

    • That’s great, but from when to when? What were the job responsibilities? For whom? Where?

  • A misleading CV (it always comes to light and does not create a good impression)

  • A photograph more suitable for Snapchat or a dating site rather than a formal introduction

  • A confusing wall of text

Why is it so important?
Your CV always creates the first impression, which is very difficult to change. It is also your personal presentation of your character, professionalism, willingness, and attention to detail. If your CV looks like a shopping list or a dating profile, it certainly does not create an impression of reliability, diligence, and thoroughness.
CVs are evaluated not only by us, but also by our foreign Partners – in other words, your potential employers. And believe us, out of the hundreds of CVs we have received, many dozens were prepared in such a way that we simply could not forward them any further.
